Meet Katy Carter
SENIOR QUALIFIED YOGA TEACHER (EYRT500)
Katy is an experienced, renowned teacher and seasoned retreat facilitator. She has practised and studied yoga internationally for 20 years, and has been teaching yoga and other forms of movement and self-exploration since 2008. Katy teaches from an open heart, with a trauma sensitive lens, ensuring and encouraging a container of safety, agency and compassion for each individual. Her classes are holistic and embodiment-centred, incorporating yoga asana, qi gong, fascial release techniques, breathwork and meditation, with yoga philosophy and somatic psychology. Rather than a workout, they are more of a work-in, nonetheless freeing your body and mind from the stresses and strains of modern life.

"I have been meaning for some time to email you... I did the Space In Between Retreat, Dec 2017. I actually came on a little bit of a whim, as a friend had suggested going together. She then pulled out, but I decided to still go. I really had no idea of what was involved and was probably surprised by a few of the things we did:)

In 2018 I completed 200 hr, Yin Yoga teaching training, while I had never actually thought of doing that before, I didn't even know about Yin Yoga. I have been teaching Yin classes since 2019. I built a beautiful little house on Waiheke, next door to my best friends. Feb this year, I moved in. My friends have a beautiful studio space, where, since last week, I started teaching twice weekly Yin classes. I am feeling very blessed. As I said, the retreat really was a gift, offering much more than I expected."
