Sunday Sourdough

Yoga and Sourdough One Day workshop

Do you have a Sourdough starter but don't know what to do with it? Or maybe you're not getting the results you want from your sourdough baking.

Join us for this one day workshop, when you will receive expert tuition on the basics of Sourdough baking from our in-house chef in between some energising and relaxing Yoga sessions.

You will also have time to relax enjoy our facilities, soaking up the incredible views, sitting by a roaring fire in winter, enjoying the hot spa or swimming in the pool in summer.

There will be 2 sessions of Yoga during the day, which will be a mix of energising, dynamic practice in the morning and a quieter, restorative yoga session in the afternoon with plenty of props to support you, to allow your body to fully relax.

In between the Yoga sessions, you will enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch complimented by freshly baked sourdough and a 90 minute tutorial during which you will learn what equipment you need for successful baking, how to refresh and look after your sourdough starter; how to stretch and fold and rest and shape the dough.

You will leave with your own sourdough starter, a tried and trusted recipe and plenty of hints and tips to help you continue your sourdough journey.

These one day workshops have been designed for everyone - from total beginners in Yoga and Sourdough to those with more experience, seeking a refresher.

Start time 10am - finishes at 4pm

More about the Yoga

If you have never tried Yoga before, come along for a new experience.  We will focus on the foundational principles of Yoga, the physical postures, connecting flow between postures and use of the breath and focal points to compose the mind and develop concentration.

We will use  props (straps, blankets, blocks, bricks, bolsters, chairs) to support you in your asana practice.   This can be useful for complete beginners or for those (like most of us!) that have some physical limitations.

With restorative yoga, our intention is to relax into the postures, enabling you to focus on your breath and release tension in your body, cultivating mindfulness and a sense of release in body and soul.

Restorative yoga stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which slows the heart rate, regulates the blood pressure and relaxes the body. As such, Restorative yoga is considered particularly beneficial for those suffering from anxiety, insomnia or headaches, as well as other stress-related conditions.

Restorative yoga is believed to boost the immune system and accelerate the body's natural healing process.

Chris Stirrat

I learnt to bake sourdough over 4 years ago following a number of disheartening ‘failures” as I tried to teach myself from books and YouTube.

Following a day course at Bread Ahead in Borough Market London, I attended  The Sourdough School in Northampton on a week long diploma course run by Vanessa Kimbell. I also attended Dan Lepards Sourdough Masterclass in London.

Over the following 3 years I have developed my sourdough baking skills and now produce top quality sourdough boules, focaccia, ciabatta and croissant.

Having come through the school of hard knocks, I know the frustrations that you can have on your sourdough journey. I want to share my passion for baking sourdough and the absolute joy in producing top quality very digestible bread.

Come and join me at Paradise View Retreat for some fun in discovering the successes to baking sourdough.

Rachel Lee

My yoga journey spans 40 years, starting with a deep grounding in the Iyengar system and more recently in Knoff Yoga, with complimentary practice in Ashtanga Vinyasa, Yin Yoga and Scaravelli-inspired.

I have completed over 600 hours of teacher training since 2001, in Yoga, Meditation and Pranayama, achieved the Yoga Alliance 200 RYT, Knoff Yoga Foundation Certificate, Anatomy and Physiology diploma (Otago Uni) and teaching certificates in Yin Yoga and Aerial Yoga.

I believe that Yoga is for everyone and my aim as a teacher is to demystify the practice and make it accessible, fun, safe and above all, beneficial for every student regardless of their starting place.

The Iyengar approach has given me a deep understanding of the principles of alignment and this strong, intelligent and focused style of Yoga continues to influence my teaching today.

I am hugely indebted to the many talented teachers that I have been fortunate to study with and my purpose as a teacher is to pass on their knowledge and channel their unique gifts to the best of my ability.
